Fluorescent Light - has Black, Green and White wire.

Home Wiring Cable - has White, Black, bare copper

going to a switch, then to a 3 prong plug, plugged into the power bar.

How do I connect this? Black to Black, White to White then bare copper to green?

That would be correct, of course be sure to turn off power at the breaker and not only just the switch before you do any work. Also if your not too familiar with it would be best to probably get an electrician.

i could tell you, the answer is only a three letter word, but because its a public forum I'm going to tell you that in my country its illegal to perform electrical work without a license at (or above) standard low voltage. Iv also seen people do really dodgy things with power cables

This is a lamp, plugged into an outlet. Should be easy enough.

Yeah Kiwi's are different. Home owners are allowed to do their own wiring, but they need to get permits here. Then if something is at fault, its the permit guys fault.

There shouldn't be a bare carbon wire. did you strip it?

I hooked it up, looks nice.

Messed up on one of the switches, had a 4 wire, and two 3 wire coming into the wall switch. Just swapped around the one. Got me a few buzzes :)

The flourescent light  was just a tight fit, basically a computer power cable with stranded wire. I will have to extend the wires so the box can fit where I want it. I was thinking after the fact, I should have just used a simple lamp switch. But the actual wall switch looks good, as I got a metal cover plate for it. Looks industrial.
