If you want battery life, I think the Kaby Lake Dell XPS 13 is currently king. I'd probably get that one.

I have an older Samsung Series 9 and I love it. Super light, thin (smaller in both ways than the Dell), lasts a decent amount away from the wall.

Asus has some pretty interesting offers in their Zen line, the new one is crazy thin.

T460s King of build quality, with great battery life. King in keyboard

X260 King of battery life, some people has gotten it to run 24 hours. King in keyboard

XPS13 Good laptop, that looks really nice

 

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...
