They institute Caps and dont have the meter working :/

I dont want to have to call, but I guess I will next week. My attitude is going to be fix this shit or Ill have the government fix this shit. Im pretty sure if I called the attorney general office of my state and say Comcast is capping usage and charging overages without a meter, Im sure the attorney general can help.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Every month, Comcats increases my bill by 10 a month, so every other month, i go down there, as complain that if they dont stop increasing my bill, ill leave them.

Most of the times, i get 20 off per month, but it goes right back up the next month.

The 3rd time i complained, i got a free X1 box, and increased speeds up to 500Gb

I'll join you in the suite. Give me a call. They're ripping millions off of users. Promising certain things and not delivering. How do I know? I was a local computer techie- over 80% of the le people used Comcast and I'd get the casual call to check out the computer/internet for "slow/freezing" videos. Most of the time the ISP (Comcast) was being a jerk to the user. Nothing you can do about it but reset the modem... I still have this problem with Comcast.... but that's a different story.

Their shouldn't be a cap to start with(Or have impossible cap to reach), I can easily download 1 TB a month. Charging an extra 50 dollars for unlimited plan is just slimy. Verizon in my state also has a data cap, but it's almost impossible to hit (20 TB).

However due to certain contracts Verizon is not allowed into my area, which basically means the only choice for high speed internet is comcast. My telephone company internet service is a joke, the max speed is 15 mbps (That may be even pushing it).

I really hope Google, Facebook, or one of the other technology companies looking to make internet competition is successful soon. Internet is quickly becoming a standard utility like power and water, it's already replaced the telephone in that regard. Something this vital can not be so unstable.

Yes, it's 2871 as in the year 2871. I traveled all this way, back in time, just to help you. And you thought your mama lied when she said you were special-_-

At least your phone company can do 15 Mbps. ATT only does maybe 6 Mbps if you sacrifice a virgin to the ATT gods. They also enforce a 150 Gig cap on their DSL customers. Bastards.

man i used to think my 150Mbps/10Mbps connection was crappy until i started hearing ya'lls stories.

I got 75/10, we can get 150/10 if we sign up for a X1 Tipple Play. Comcast is lucky we have a double play. Probably about a little less than a year ago, we went OTA on the 3 bed room TV's. Now all we got is 2 boxes, with one of them being free with the service.

How much are you charges?  i pay $82 for my 150/10 which is a standalone package that i have.

a few years ago i realized all but 30 minutes of the tv i watched on a daily basis was streaming from netflix, or youtube, and what little actual TV was the local news station.  So i decided to cut the cord and up my internet speed.  I bought an antenna to mount on the roof that currently sits behind my big screen which satisfies any OTA content i'd want.  i've saved a good bit of money so far.

Well we pay like $140. We get HBO, but no HD and only have 2 boxes. We also own our own modem. Comcast is the only real option in town and they know it. The only reason we cant go the Cord cut root are:

  • My dad likes sports
  • Data Caps (We used almost 300 Gigs last month.)
    • Consider if we dropped cable, usage will go thru the roof.

Ouch.  I'm capped at 1tb, which is more than enough in my opinion for just me, but i can see why a house full of people might be stifled by it.

If the data cap ever gets upped you could look into sling tv.  It offers a surprising amount of content for the money spent, and even has sports packages.  I've considered it, but i cant justify the cost considering i know i wouldn't watch it lol.

I was looking at Sony's solution too. It just that when my dad gets home till he goes to bed he watches TV. Then my mom got laid off till March. So she will be home watching tones of TV.

No bueno all around mate.

Hopefully something comes along to alleviate that.  I know comcast is supposedly adopting the new Docsis 3.1 standard, which will allow 1Gbps speeds over cable.

Yeah but Its capped if you dont have a contract from what I read. Also, I live 28 Miles from Detroit. And from Reports they are updating parts of Detroit. Most likely the downtown area. Because the rest of Detroit looks like a war zone. :/
