That's reasonable yes, but I feel multi monitor set ups are more convenient: I like to have at least one secondary display since I often game and watch youtube simultaneously but I might change my set up to 1 27" 4k display and a tablet for said video watching, hopefully the Nintendo Switch even.

I meant two 4k monitors. 

 

But I also have my laptop by my side 24/7, so even if I'm gaming on my desktop I'm still generally browsing the forums/other stuff on my laptop.

Join the wait game then. I might even wait up a bit more till it matures more so we can be sure about the status of first party support and whenever it gets a Pokemon game.

Honestly, that's kind of disappointing. Considering it's a handheld device, it really should have a higher res display.

More pixels needs more performance which needs a bigger battery which makes a portable device become not portable fast. 720 is perfectly fine considering people play at 720 on television screens and it is called a console

the concept doesnt really seem that special to me, especially since the hardware isnt exactly groundbreaking

Well it's going to be a tegra and probably pascal, so for a thing of its size it is going to be powerful. For me, I like the idea of easy IRL multiplayer and the flexibility, it's more or less a mature Shield tablet.

For me, the lack of IRL multiplayer, titles and the fact that it will probably have older hardware than the switch makes the shield not worth really.

Lucky for you I guess. Without the joycon controller we're looking at 17*10cm which is already larger than a PS Vita and then you have +6cm total for the joycon for a grand total of 23cm of width. I dunno about you but I'd say that's hardly gaming on the go, especially with a 3 hour battery life.

You people are dumb as hell, wanting a 1080p or 1440p screen do you understand HOW SHIT OUR BATTERY TECH IS?! This is a gaming device not a phone, with a high res display itd die in 20 minutes. Do you want to actually play games with the mobile gaming platform or do you want it to just look good with some 1440p wallpapers and youtube videos??? This is a smart decision by nintendo, as long as games can be rendered in 1080p on the tv who cares? Usability > specs

I'd be more concerned about the battery life, that's true, but as far as carrying it around with you it shouldn't be a huge problem - pockets aside most people already carry a bag or backpack with them when they go out for more than an hour or two. 3 straight hours of gaming are not terrible, most laptops would not last that long under constant load, but it is a step backwards compared to previous nintendo handhelds. In the end it will probably come down to what games are available for it, as usual.
