Hi, I have a home server that i currently only use for vmware ESXI 6.0 U2 which currently only has FreeNas for all my network storage on it. Does anyone have any good uses for my server because the CPU is mostly Idle and i fell like it is being wasted.  Keep in mind i purchased this server a year ago for about 100$ so it was an absolute steal. I know about windows virtualization labs but i was wondering more about home uses.

Specs;
Twin Xeon L5335 2.00 Ghz, Virtualization Supported.

16GB DDR2 Ram

2 x  WD RE4 2TB Drives 3.5"

Id probably stay away from freenas. ZFS isn't a fan of non hardware drives. Id just setup a small linux vm or run linux on the hardware with kvm. Im assuming the drives are running in raid 1.

For uses

-PXE bootserver

-web server

-plex

-web cache

-adblocker

if you play any games then set up a server for that, like MC or whatever

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

"Here is some advice that might have gotten lost somewhere along the way in your life.

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
