Monitor for £900 build

mcraftax

What monitor would you suggest for a build at £900 (the £900 includes the monitor).

I think i would want to go ultra wide but i'm not sure.

Other questions:

What resolution and refresh rates should i be looking at? 1080p60, 1080p144/120 or 1440p60

And around what size?

Thanks,

Max

27" or so for size(if thats a thing for ultrawide) and 1080p 60Hz or 120Hz depending on the games you play

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I wouldn't suggest an ultrawide with your budget. You'll only be able to get a 25" or 29" panel and those are 2560x1080 and honestly I find it doesn't look good. I feel that Ultra Wide isn't worth it unless you have a 3440x1440 panel at 34".

System: i7 4790K, Hyper 212 EVO, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix, GTX 1070 Super clocked, MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, Corsair RM 750, Corsair 750D (with 2 additional 140mm NZXT fans up top for exhaust.)

Im going to be the black sheep and say close to 150-200. like the Acer GN246HL 24.0" 144Hz Monitor, it goes on sale quite frequently. Though there is a debate between better picture quality (ips) and faster frame rates (TN). Coming from IPS panels to TN panels. IPS panels are very lovely, and TN panels cannot match the picture quality that an IPS can give. Though after playing GTA V, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Skyrim Special Edition, and war thunder over 100fps it is a total game changer since everything is much more smoother plus I still retain a excellent picture quality but not as near as good as an IPS. I would say if you want pure eye candy and essentially be stuck at 60hz go for it there is nothing wrong with that, and if you want to experience high frames with a slightly, but very slightly, less picture quality go for that too.
