Mods With Skyrim SE Question

Go to solution Solved by paprikman,

They only changed some textures and filters, the engine is the same. Everything works fine, but I still prefer the vanila version to this one.

Now, i dont know about you, but i am rather excited for Skyrim SE (its a good reason to go back and play again), however, and i know there are multiple questions on this but i cant seem to find an answer for this one.

Will Skyrim Mods that didint require SKSE, work on Skyrim SE? (ive read that old mods should work, but it did not specify which ones, i would assume old mods without SKSE should be fine, but im still asking anyway).

Any advice for modding Skyrim SE or any help would be appreciated.

So SkyUI and SKSE should still work? The distinct lack of Special Edition mods on Nexus has me holding off on starting a character.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

SkyUI won't work without SKSE, and SKSE doesn't work yet. quote from the site

Skyrim Special Edition has been released, and the original SKSE will not work with it. We are currently investigating the application to create a SKSE64 build for the Special Edition. This will not be a fast process. The update to 64-bits means a lot of investigation and changes. Much like the work that has gone into F4SE this will take a tremendous amount of effort. We appreciate your patience while this work continues. We have no timeline for a release. - the SKSE team 29 October 2016

Um no actually it's the Fallout 4 version of the engine and there's noticeable changes for example rain and snow no longer clips through roofs without mods, the water actually has physics and doesn't moves in 1 direction regardless of obstacles, behind the scenes it's a 64 bit application now meaning it can address a lot more memory and remain stable so better mods at possible, the list goes on.

Most mods might not work because many have package files to save all textures and meshes (bsa files) and those don't work on the new game. Even uncompressed textures and meshes that are not packaged are not recommended unless you have really high end specs because of the way the files work the textures and meshes made with the old game tools might cause performance issues.

There's plenty of mods already coming through the nexus (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/?) since many modders actually got the game in advance from Bethesda so they could work on their mods so complex ones like Frostfall or Wet and Cold already have partial versions (they loose some of the menus from SKSE for the time being but they work as they worked before SKSE with in game books and spells to work as menus)

Yeah, but it's a lot slower than original skyrim for, like, 99,9% users?..

And I really didn't observed that 'smoothness', introduced in f4. Yes, it changed, but is it an improvement? I can't say so.

Let's w8 for some patches and skse, then it will be clear.

Oh yea.  dx9 32bit v dx11 64bit  same diff... /s

@Made In Canada

No you should not use nif files(meshes) made for the original Skyrim in the special edition.  You should convert them so they'll work without crapping on your performance.  Textures aren't necessarily an issue between the versions, other than they've removed support for tga file types.  Might be more, not sure.

You should read this - http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/4633-skyrim-se-things-to-know-when-converting-standard-mods-to-sse/

Yeah, but

But nothing: @Made In Canada even marked you as best answer when what you said was completely wrong:

Whatever you have against the game you should have said that to the OP instead of pretending there was nothing new, no differences, the same engine all of which is utterly false.
