I am building a new PC for my brother and am wondering what graphics card to get. He had an R9 270 but he needs an upgrade. I was looking on eBay at what he could get and saw gtx 770's and R9 380x/280x at this price. The budget is $120 USD. Are these the graphics cards I should be looking to get or are there others?

Yeah, that seems about right. Around the 770/780/7950/7970/280/380 range.

Both get trashed by the 380/770 range and perform around the same or marginally close to the 270 already. Wouldn't be an upgrade.

I think so because that will give the best performance for the price. Those two cards are not even close to as powerful as the Gtx 770 and r9 380x.

True. The prices seem about right by the way.
