Replacement for the new Macbook Pro?

Cyrus

So my friend wanted to buy a macbook pro a while ago and i told her to wait for the refresh of the pros

and now that they are released i was kind of let down.

Is there another 13 inch laptop that could replace it? (design is important) and would

the older macbook pros still be viable?

She is studying engineering in industrial economics so GPU performance is not really that important.

The budget is about 1700 dollars (15000 SEK)

The Razer Blade Stealth is $750 less than a comparable spec Mac Book Pro

As said the design is very important and the razer blade is very gamerish and not very clean looking.

Check out the Xiaomi Air 13. Apple-like design, USB type C, discrete graphics. Xiaomi is an up and coming company IMO.

XPS13, XiaoMI Notebook 13 (with the quad core), T460s, E7470.

Depending on the prices of the old MBPs, it can be worth it, but only if you pick up the ones with quad cores (15in).

Is there any software that she plans/needs to run that is OSX dependent?  If not, XPS 13 (look at the 6600U model if she wants it cheaper or the 7500U if she wants the latest)

Sometimes you can find a better spec'd (16GB/512GB) 6560u version for about the same price--
