TV or Projector - Movies, Tv and sports.

Guest

Hey there! I've recently started looking into upgrading my tv for a bigger one or even going for a projector. I currently own a 46 inch LG tv which i've been perfectly satisfied with but i feel like its time to get something bigger or try something new. I have basically no experience with projectors, although i've read up on some of the basics (fan noise, bulb lifetime, ambient lighting, DLP/LCD etc etc.) I generally spend 8-10 hours a week watching movies, tv series and sports and use an external speaker setup.

So with this in mind what are some of the pros and cons of tv's vs projectors? Are projectors still a good choice for movies and the like or are tv's so far ahead with picture quality these days that there's no point in getting a projector anymore?

Thanks in advance!

Projectors are loud, you need to sit in a low lit area to use, they take forever to startup..

I use a projector for an HTPC (games, movies) and usually I'd rather stay on my main rig and not bother with setting up everything.

Imo I would go with a TV, but thats just me.

Thanks for the input. Lightning probably wouldnt be a problem as i would use it only after 7pm-ish and the curtains would be down. Fan noise is a whole different story though, it will hang more or less right above my head so a loud fan will definitely annoy me.

Depends on the projector but another issue is you need a clear big rrom. Hard to adjust the projector for best angle (personal experience)

Distance from projector to screen would be up to 6m = roughly 20 feet. Would this be sufficient?

Depends on how far the projector needs to be. Again it all depends on the projcetor
