CPU or GPU

I have a limited budget, and I want to ugrade my PC.

Specs

Mobo: Z97K

CPU: G3258

GPU: GTX 750TI FTW

RAM: 8gb DDR3

Cooler: H100I

 

The two upgrades I want to get are an "MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GAMING 4G," and an "i5-4690k". The prblem is, I can only get one or the other. I mostly game on my PC, thought you might want to knw. It would be greatly appreciated if I could have help deciding which one to get.

I would do cpu first then gpu as many new games are utilizing more threads so the g2358 will start to get left behind, then you could save up and push to a 1060 maybe

No, that's not a valid reason. That doesn't change the fact you've just put a near $100+ CPU cooler with what's pretty much around a $60ish CPU.

I know, its overkill. I havent gotten around to overclocking it yet, I tried once to hold stable at 4.2, it was not at all stable.

well it was an unlocked limited edition that people oced to over 4ghz and it made a good gaming cpu on the cheap but games are starting to use more threads now so it wont work as well

That's still not a valid reason. Together that's about $160 which is just about enough to get an i5, which would be exponentially better in any case.
