1000W is overkill, 750W is enough. Why so many differnt drives? Just get 2 or 3 larger ones and partition them. What AIO cooler?

(AIO) All in one Water cooler.

lets just say...I plan a very big lifespan for this build. the only drive i consider taking down is the 512 ssd. other than that the 6tb is very effy to lower.

Can't you get i7 6800k build for your budget?

Would help you with render times.

And when gaming, you can always turn off those 2 cores, and OC 4 active cores to get same performance as i7 6700k

1000W is not needed. 750-850W would be just great.

120GB SSD will be M.2?

I understand what AIO means, I was asking for the name of the cooler you plan to buy to see if its good value or not (Dont buy a cheap single rad, air is better than that). You would have less points of failure with less drives, it may be cheaper too.

ah sorry, it would be a corsair h115i 280mm

and i do understand the failure points but like i said... the only one i would consider taking off would be the 512gb

dont care about cost if its for my job...job pays bills and build

wouldnt having the programs and OS on one drive create latency for the boot?

and im confused...750-850w? its 2 gpus, AIO, and much more...

You can check my signature and see what I'm using.

And my build is pulling around 250W out of thee wall when I stress tested CPU and GPU to 100% load.

I know that GTX 1080 uses a bit more power, and that CPU also. But not that much more xD

With your build I'm pretty sure that if you will be monitoring power usage, it won't ever go above 600W.

okay so i can cut down on the psu.

But as far as the drives. Will the Programs like abode, autocad, eclipse and others interfere with the OS if put on the same drive?

No, putting things on an OS drive doesn't slow the OS down at all (unless it is a fragmented HDD, which it isn't)

Get a 1TB PCI-E SSD (since you have such a high budget) and either partition it into 2x 512GB, or just keep it as a 1TB drive for everything.

get an 8TB HDD (maybe in RAID 1 with another HDD?) for everything, no need for two separate HDDs, it wont be slower if there is more things on a drive.

1000W PSU is a little too much, but not too overkill for SLI 1080s and an extreme edition processor (which you should put in with that kind of horsepower)

Keep in mind it is better to get a high-quality 750W PSU than a low quality 1000W PSU

Did more planning and it would be roughly 100-200 dollars more for a 6 core build. But now that I'm thinking 6 core with 2 1080s. What should the PSU be? 1000 or 850?

also I took off the 120 and 256gb ssd and decided to have the 512 for OS and programs

use the 2tb for media and designs.

6tb for games

any thoughts?
