You can put it to 3000MHz if your RAM supports that.

I have i7 4790k that support 1333 and 1600MHz memory.

Bought 1866 memory and OCed it to 2133MHz ... runs without any problems

My CPU only supports 2400Mhz RAM (6800K), but my Mobo supports 3333Mhz RAM Overclocked (Asus ROG Strix X99)

Is it safe to unlock 3000Mhz Dominator Platinums, and how would I do so?

(Probz an obvious answer, but just to be sure)

The ram speed for the ram is only what Intel tested the cpus with not the max ram speed, you could tun ddr4- 4000 with a 6800k if you wanted.

Why go for the platinums, they are overpriced, and aren't even the fastest ram you can get, pretty much just exist for people to waste money on. I would suggest some GSkill trident Z instead.

The Trident Z's are just 10$ less expensive when I get a 32GB Kit of 2 both 3000Mhz, which is nothing when Im already spending 220$ on them

And I like the Dominator Platinums looks better! xD
