Top high end full cuff Headphones? - best possible audio

Mawcat

Hey guys, im in the search for a couple of outstanding headphones. ;)

Price range: 300-400$

They are intended for gaming, but ofc also music on the side.

Must have full cover large dome (not touching my ears)

Looks arent that important, although the only "color theme" i would go for other than a normal black / grey ish look would be black / red.

Must also be very comfortable, since i wil be using theses over 24h sessions some times

I really just want the best possible audio experience!

i would love to get a few possible candidates, that i can chose from :)

ty! <3

Well since it's for gaming, my pc, normal jack size, maybe a sound card down the road.

HE-300 are large, though heavy, and do deserve an amp of some kind to go with them.

I'm not super knowledgeable about audio but if your getting $300-400 headphones I would def get something like a sound blaster zx http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102049 or a Phoebus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132054 since your gaming with them.

The HE-300's were the worst headphone I've ever put on my head. Terrible SQ, clamping force was insane (headache after 10 minutes), and the silver cable made an annoying sound every time you moved your head.

That being said, DON"T BUY A HEADPHONE BASED ON LOOKS.

Nobody will see you wearing the headphones, and neither will you once they're on your head. That being said for gaming you'd probably want something open. I use my DT990's 250 ohm while gaming, and my o2/ODAC combo. If you want something better, grab the HD600's. They lack bass response, and you'll also need an amp/DAC for those.

Don't buy a sound card.

I see that the DT 990 comes in 250 ohm and 600 ohm. What does this actualy do?

also i will be using the Maximus VI gene, which has onboard amp. :)

The 600 ohm version takes more voltage to reach the same volume level as the 250 ohm version.

Either would be fine, and sound pretty much the same, but I'd pick the 250 for better use with other devices.

Get the 250 ohm, no need for the 600 ohm really. Depending on how good it is (i'm pretty weary) you might still need a proper headphone amp.

It's that generic TI opamp they use on everything.

Sit and learn before saying anything, that or just say what everyone else says.

Yeah I've learned quite a bit from the audio section on this forum and hope to learn even more. ;)
