Windows won't install

Go to solution Solved by GoodBytes,

Did you extract the drivers? You need to get the SATA controller *.inf (aka: extracted) drivers, and put that in a drive or disk, and load thsoe up.

Windows setup cannot run .exe's, because well... Windows isn't installed.

Well, windows won't install on my Dad's HP laptop. It asked me for drivers, so I downloaded every driver possible for the damn thing, and put them on the USB. The Windows installer prompted me to find the location, I did, and it told me no drivers found. Well, no problem I thought, I'll just put the SSD in my computer and install windows from there. So I unplugged all my drives and plugged in the SSD, then I put the USB in and booted it up. BAM. Now it tells me that windows can't use that drive. I formatted it from the installer (More drive options, format) and still nothing. Well, I really don't know what I missed and I'm at my wit's end, so I figured I'd come here.

Any help?

Alright, my problem is windows. I have an HP laptop that my dad wanted an SSD for. So I got the SSD, put it into the laptop and tried to install Windows via USB. The installer tells me I am missing drivers. So I went to HP's website and downloaded all the possible drivers for the laptop and put them on the USB.  Now then, the damn thing still tells me that I need drivers, even after selecting the location. So I thought, no biggie, I'll install plug the SSD into my computer and install windows through there. So I unplugged all my drives, external, internal, and I plugged in the SSD and put the USB in.

BAM

Put the drive in a USB 2.0 slot. I had this issue when in a USB 3 slot.

The installer shouldnt ask for drivers at all,.. unless your using raid or a pci-e ssd that needs drivers.

SSD's get seen via the bios like normal HDD's and Windows Setup should see and select them without ANY drivers whatsoever.

Re-Create your Windows Install USBDrive, Format USB and put Windows back on it and try again, I think corrupt files are making it have issues.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

It is possible the laptop cannot support the firmware of the SSD. I had a similar issue with my old laptop and it not being compatible with my SSD due to it conflicting with the firmware on the SSD. The way I fixed it was to update the BIOS on the laptop.

System Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X

GPU: Radeon RX 7900 XT

RAM: 32GB 3600MHz

HDD: 1TB Sabrent NVMe -  WD 1TB Black - WD 2TB Green -  WD 4TB Blue

MB: Gigabyte  B550 Gaming X- RGB Disabled

PSU: Corsair RM850x 80 Plus Gold

Case: BeQuiet! Silent Base 801 Black

Cooler: Noctua NH-DH15

Well, I gave up and installed Ubuntu, but I'll keep this in mind in case I need to install Windows. Thanks everyone.
