Task Manager Sucks Right?

So I just overclocked my i7-4790K to 4.5GHz. Task manager says it's running at 5GHz but CPUID is saying 4.5GHz. My temps aren't higher than 55C. Am I fine? These temps are during gameplay and various benchmarking software.

 

One more thing, turbo boost won't activate if I've overclocked, right? Turbo takes it from 4.0GHz to 4.2GHz, it won't take 4.5GHz to 4.7GHz will it?

Don't belive task manager, temps are fine

 

For turbo, did you enable it in the bios? You probably disabled it if you oced with multipler.

Use task manager for other things. It's great for terminating programs and checking if there are any easy-to-spot programs active. Use CPU-Z for CPU speeds.

 

55 sounds fine.

Turbo won't add another 0.2 ghz.

I did look, but I didn't see an option to simply disable Turbo Boost. It doesn't seem to be going any higher than 4.5GHz, so I'm assuming it's off?

Just to clarify then, if it says it's at 4.5GHz, the overclock is working?

I believe changing the multiplier just increases the range at which turbo can go to. But in practice I don't think it's something to worry about. Most of the time the processor is full throttle or idling.

If stock speeds are @ 4.0 ghz, yes, it's working.
