Hey guys

So i have an Alienware M17 R4 Gaming Laptop with an i7 3630QM Processor since a few years. But in recent times the Processor started acting weird. When i play CSGO for instance it uses the CPU at max most of the time and the game starts stuttering in some moments. I know that my pc shouldnt have any problems handling CSGO so it has to be some weird issue with the processor.

Can you guys tell me how i can fix that?

Would be really cool if i wouldnt have to drop another 2k for a new pc^^

Thx a lot

Have you checked the temperature while gaming? could just be an excess of dust in the heatsink.

What else is running? Have you checked the processes tab in task manager for any programs using a lot of CPU?

Could be thermal throttling maybe... and could probably do with a clean bothj physically and software wise. I have no experience of this laptop model, but if it's been fine for 2 years the above could be an explanation for stuttering maybe. Could be drivers, but I doubt it. Could be background processes such as windows update etc using the cpu too without your knowledge. And last but not least, maybe you could do with a re-installation of the OS... But that's a last resort.

Clean junk, use a program like ccleaner to also clean registry. General upkeep of the system such as defgragging HDDs/optimise SSDs etc. Clean out unused apps/programs. Sweep for viruses etc.
