Is this possible?

I want to install a, I guess, RAID config that will benefit from speed of a SSD but have the cheap, large storage of a HDD.

-My idea is that it will install on the SSD but then automatically move then file to the HDD.

My reasoning is that with my internet speed I benefit from installing to SSDs but they are expensive for the large capacity models. I just want to know what the best idea is and the best config that would work. I'm relatively new to PC building, so I would like to know the best idea for me. Also if you can suggest some products, specifically a good large capacity SSD (between 800GB-1.5TB).

For this theoretical config I was thinking a 100GB SSD and then it transfers to a 1-3TB HDD, then obviously the RAID controller.

Thanks For The Help,

Flea..

Unfortunately this setup will not work using traditional RAID the way you want it. As you can mismatch types and capacities, but you will get the capacity of the smallest drive and the speed of the slowest drive in an array.

You are going to have to make a script to flush the contents of the SSD to the HDD at scheduled intervals or find a piece of software that can do this.

It's best to install what you commonly use on the SSD and all data and other files on the HDD.

There used to be Intel's Smart Response Technology, but they stopped doing it. And nobody else aside from Apple is doing a hybrid approach anymore.

Thanks for the suggestion.
