What Would Be Better For 1080p Ultra

Hi im wondering would be a better the Sapphire NITRO+ RX480 8GB AMD Graphics Card 1342MHz OC card or the asus strix 1060 for 1080p ultra.

It'll depend on the games, things like Doom I'm pretty sure the RX 480 pulls ahead on while others like GTA 5 it'd be Asus Strix.

I had this issue and I spent months trying to figure out which one to get so I've been in the same position as you were... I've researched literally everything about it and I'm going to explain it in simple terms...

 

They are both fantastic cards and are pretty much equal.

 

However, the GTX 1060 gets higher frame rates in most games like Battlefield 1, Overwatch, GTA 5, Tomb Raider and more in both DX11 and DX12...

 

The RX 480 however still does get better frame rates in games like Deus Ex, Quantum Break and, most noticeably, DOOM.

 

The frame rate differs between resolutions and quality settings and can both be small differences and large differences...

 

PLEASE DON'T GET CONFUSED WITH THE DX11 AND DX12 NONSENSE...

 

Honestly, from what is shown, the GTX 1060 does better in a half of games than the RX 480 in both DX11 and DX12.

 

This does not mean it's better.

 

That's pretty much it but both are great choices. 

 

BTW 1060 can't do SLI but I'm sure you already knew that...

Go for gtx 1060, it's faster especially when overclocked, and it overclock like a beast. However go for rx480 of u want to crossfire it later and get a decent performance boost without spending much money. Both the card are 1080p ultra capable while the gtx 1060 being a better choice especially when oberclocked.

I would go RX 480. Both are basically just as good but the RX 480 has a trump card which you'll probably never use. CrossFire. The 1060 doesn't have SLI support.

yeah they had the two of them in my local pc shop so gonna get the asus strix 1060 saturday

Both are mostly equal, I would pick nvidia because I prefer Nvidia.
