So my plan is get some driver simulation gear one my PC and practice how to change gear. Do you guys have any suggestion on what gear I should gey and what game I should get.

Hope you all have a good day

i would get some really crappy old stick shift if you dont need a license to buy a car that is, anyway i would go with project cars i guess, that seems pretty realistic for driveing

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

not sure if thats like a rally(sequential) transmission or if it has the gear slots like a real car but that could work pretty good if the shifter is like in a regular car

Driving stick is just something you need to learn on the actual thing. You can practice the basic movements with the car off, but a game will not teach you the finer points, the most important being the point where the clutch engages the transmission. Riding the clutch is fine if you're learning how to operate a manual. It's riding the clutch regularly that's bad.

Manual transmission is a lot about feel as well. That's something you won't learn in a game.

I learned the concept of driving a manual on a G27, but you need to be in a real car to get a sense of a real clutch pedal. they are very different from the G27's clutch pedal.

If you don't know the concept, i would get it. If you already have the concept down and just need practice, you need some real life seat time.

that said, I love my miata's shifter and clutch :) Soooo satisfying to use

Another thing about driving a manual is all at low speed. When you're at 15-20+ MPH, using a clutch is easy. It's when you're piddling around in first gear and you need to work the clutch carefully at low speeds you have to be careful. Especially if you're going from a stop. A lot of games (though I hear Project Cars kind of supports this) will not stall the engine out if you "pop the clutch". It's imperative you learn how to release the clutch smoothly and at the same time apply gas.

Its easy dude. Just ask your friend to take you to an empty field where you can practice. Get a G27 anyway and get into sim racing but that is a different thing altogether.

Seriously, learn how to shift in an actual car.
