This is kind of software based hardware question. Do cpus run different software that works woth certain motherboard? My poiny im trying to reach is. If i were to somehow get an adapter to fit 1 type of a socket cpu onto a motherboard of a different socket type would they be compatible? Or is there software and programming to effect that

No. CPU will only run in the socket it is designed for. Not a software thing, more so a hardware thing.

When in doubt, re-format.

Absurd, the hardware interface is fundamentally different unless the socket specifically offers backwards compatibility. Moreover there are clear differences in feature set capabilities and support.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

Even if you were able to remap pins, the problem is the other parts of the motherboard expect only the processors it was compatible for in the first place. i.e., if you could somehow wire a Skylake processor to a Z67 chipset, the chipset wouldn't know what to do with the processor because it wasn't designed for it. Ditto if you somehow wired a Sandy Bridge processor to a Z170 chipset.

no. there are no adapters. cpu's dont work that way.

it is designed to fit on to the socket it is designed for.
