Make status updates bigger?

Now I feel stupid. But still would it be nice to have a bit bigger one on front page?

It's not something that we can easily change, and in many cases you would still need to view the full status to get all the information anyway.

I feel status updates in the home page at almost 90% will not fit the whole text and in order to see them you need to click on the profile and scroll down to see the update.

So would be nice if the status updates were bit bigger and easily accessible/repliable. Also a rating is also nice like ability to rate replies (funny, agree, informative, thumbs up, mark as solved)

10 or so status updates there would be cool.

I know https://linustechtips.com/main/discover/58/ is an alternative, but it's just more convenient to have it on the front page.

I mean bigger as in size. Like the content (text) of the status update is usually long and you can never read all of it

Oh like that.. Meh, not that interested in that. Would have have a 'click to expand' button in that case.

You can press the "2 replies" or whatever button to go to the status update directly

I always can. In what circumstances can you not click on it?

But then you don't really have the issue anymore. The disappearance is not really an issue related to what you're talking about. Regardless, the time stamp and reply buttons will take you to the status update directly per my own test.

Yes but that is something optional and don't bother me much. It would be nice to able to read the whole status update though

The issue is that if the status update is long enough, there's going to be another cutoff point. IMO, you can just deal with the limitation, and click on the time stamp/reply buttons, and if you waited too long, then just go to the person's profile.

Guess I have to deal with it or open 100 tabs of people who usually post status update and auto refresh the tabs

That being said though, if it's easy to implement, it would be something useful to have in the future. I'm not a programmer, and definitely not a developer for the forum, so I'm not sure how easy it would be to implement it.

There was a discussion about this in the past with Colonel Mortis about adding a rating system to status updates. He said it would be difficult to implement and that they won't focus on it.
