Windows 7 cannot find updates.

Solegide

It's been checking for updates for over 2 hours, and still hasn't found anything. I even did a clean boot, and still nothing.

Maybe it's up to date?

Do you have a virus/mallware/spyware checker?

Has your hosts file been modded?

It's a common issue with Windows Update, and there are many ways to solve it. I've put all the solutions that I've come across into this blog post:

That would be amazing to have a newly installed OS 100% Up to date without any further downloads.

well that would be impossible, all OS's need updates. now as far as triggering your windows 7 to download any update avaliable you can.  open a cmd with admin rights and type  wuauclt.exe/updatenow. then go to your update screen and make it search it should come up with all avaliable downloads, if it does not. then let it sit there for a bit then reset your pc and check again. report back on if it worked or not.

Those exist. If you own Windows 7 Ultimate 64, there's a download for such an ISO here:

And if you own one of the other versions of Windows 7, there are instructions in that post to create your own 100% updated Windows 7 ISO image, that you can use in the future.

No, not necessarily. Windows 7 and Vista only get critical security updates

also forgot, sometimes windows locks out the ability to force check for x ammount of time so if nothing happens you have to use this command

wuauclt.exe /resetauthorization /detectnow  its been a while since i have update issues with windows 7 but these commands help alot.
