Mouse Disconnects/reconnects randomly

I have a microsoft mouse. it is an optical usb mouse. Recently it has started randomly disconnecting and reconnecting instantly.It causes problem while gaming as when it reconnects the hardware mouse shows up in the game screen. also the sound of it disconnecting/reconnecting is irritating.I am willing to do things myself so please tell me the solution even if it is a bit difficult.

1) go to store

2) buy new mouse

3) unplug old mouse

4) plug in new mouse

5) congrats you fixed it :)

Sounds like there is a break anywhere from the usb port to the connector on the mouse. You might need a new one, or try and find a way tofix that break. Sorry, this is not my expertise, but from my experience.

Would it work if  i shorten the cable a bit?

I would try and pinch different parts of the cord to see if you can temp solve the issue to diagnose it. I have that issue with headphones all the time. As for shortening it, I really don't know. I don't want you to break it over me. Maybe someone more experienced will come and help you.

drivers up to date and my mobo hasn't got usb3
