Headphones Not Working on New PC Build

hanbun_nihonjin

Hi! I just came back from the US and built a PC with the parts i bought (which I chose with your guys help here on the forums). Everything seems to be working fine, but my headphones don't work, neither in the front panel not the motherboard. They don't even register in the front panel. However, when I put in my mouse or a flashdrive in the front panel USB slots, it says the device malfunctioned. I can put the headphones in at the back, and the Realtek HD Audio Manager recognizes them, but I don't hear anything from them. Any help will be appreciated!

Motherboard: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/yLPzK8/msi-motherboard-z170asliplus

Graphics Card: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/ph38TW/evga-geforce-gtx-1070-8gb-sc-gaming-video-card-08g-p4-5173-kr

CPU: http://pcpartpicker.com/product/tdmxFT/intel-cpu-bx80662i76700k

Case (if that makes a difference): http://pcpartpicker.com/product/VyKhP6/phanteks-case-phec416pag

Actually, one thing I want to mention is that there was this one thing in the case that I haven't plugged in because I could not understand what to do with it for the life of me. I believe it's responsible for the LEDs at the bottom of the front panel.

Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Devices > And then make sure your headphones are your default playback device.

Nope, that's the thing. They don't appear among the devices.
