I had a touch screen for a desktop for a while, it was horrible. I could not keep it clean of prints and given the distance I sat from the screen I couldn't easily use the touch screen. In my mind touch is great for mobile but needs to stay the hell away from desktops.

I don't get what's wrong with the Metro UI?

Just because it's new and different?

It's much slower to navigate through if you know what you're doing on Win7, and lots of people aren't into huge tiles. Start menu is much more compact and less simple looking, tons of squares with icons in em, made of solid colours is something my grandma would like because it makes navigation obvious, but it's so big, and ugly when anyone who knows what they're doing can navigate win7 faster, and not take up a whole screen, plus, everyone knows computer nerds don't embrace change most of the time.

Anyone who is navigating fast on Windows 7, is more than likely using keyboard short cuts.

Which are the same.

Though I use keyboard short cuts for basics (Cut, copy, paste) I navigate Windows with just the cursor, much faster in Win7 for me

Got touch on my ultrabook. More annoying than anything really.

Master the keyboard shortcuts and you will be better off for it. All a touch screen will do is get dirty and covered in finger prints. My main issue with the metro interface is that it sends you off to a different UI space that is so foreign in comparison to the desktop that it becomes annoying( i would prefer it if it was an overlay and you could still see the desktop through to gaps in the tiles).

Because it's built for touchscreens. Most of us on this forum are desktop users.

Otherwise would get rid of the metro, but the only Windows 8(.1) machine I have is a tablet... No need to trash it.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

People can't handle change. I have yet to upgrade to 8.1 but I actually prefer the metro UI I believe. At the press of a button I can have all that I ever use just a click away, don't even need to scroll.
