MX Master vs G502

Go to solution Solved by German_John,

Hey all,

I went for a 602. Got it for €38 from a retailer, 2 years warranty (still used, but that doesn't matter then). I like the wireless function, since I use it at work and have to move my stuff there. I had the opportunity to feel 402, 502 and 602, and the 602 was the most comfortable by a bit, and has more buttons, too (but slightly less comfortable)

So that came as a nice surprise!

Thanks for the help, though! Very much appreciated :)

Cheers,

John

Hello everyone,

so, it's time for me to upgrade my mouse (good old RX250...), and there's two options out there:

An MX Master for €45 and a G502 for €30 (plus shipping each, I guess. Both used)

The question is now, which one to get.

I game a little, but not *that* much. I mostly browse, write, and do some work with Photoshop and InDesign.

The G502 seems to have more buttons (which is nice), but the MX Master is presumably even more comfortable and has wireless, which is nice because my desk is cluttered...

Any recommendations?

There's also "new" MX Masters out there with the scroll wheel only working in free spin mode - is that an issue, i.e. will it scroll randomly when I move the mouse? Cause they give those away for €35... from a retailer, too...

Cheers,

Jonas

The MX master is awesome, great for work, problem is that the horizontal scrolling doesn't work in photoshop :C

G502, I love the shit out of mine. It's just such a great mouse and the sensor is fantastic. The MX Master is great as well, but the G502 is just more full featured in my mind.

The free scrolling and the option to switch from that is fantastic, the horizontal scrolling works very well in PS, and the extra buttons do come in handy (I use mine for DPI but you can change it to literally whatever you want). Plus the weight system makes it very customizable.

Yeah... I imagine that it basically does the same as tilting mouse wheels and those are inconsistent between programs... that's so annoying... I guess one could just bind Ctrl to a button and use the vertical scroll wheel...

I have never been burnt with anything used. I'll use PayPal, so if anything is not as described I can just get my money back (and because I'm not a dick I'll also send them their mouse back :P)

Interesting, you can bind EVERY button on the mouse to anything you want? That would be a huge advantage over the Master

Yes, even the left and right click.
