now to find my other SATA cable... but how do I wipe it?

What would be simplest is to just use a USB adapter. You could also plug it into a different SATA port on your PC motherboard and power connector on your PSU.

If you want to wipe it, simply format it by right-clicking it in Windows Explorer and clicking Format. If you uncheck Quick Format, it'll also zero out all of the data where it would otherwise be potentially recoverable. You can also do this from Disk Management.

what I'm worried about is the fact that my HDD has windows 10 and the SSD has windows 7, will it give me the option to boot with my HDD?

Most motherboards default to booting to the first bootable SATA device by checking the SATA ports in sequential order (SATA0, SATA1, SATA2...). If you're concerned it won't behave like this, most motherboards also have an option to change this boot order or even boot to a specific device without changing the boot order.

Though a quick caveat for the non-quick formatting process: It will take a long time.

SSDs are generally much, much faster about this than hard drives, but yes, it can still take a few hours or longer depending on the size of the drive as well as the write speed to the drive.

My friend is paying me to wipe his 120gb Samsung 840 Pro SSD with Windows 7 on it.

How do I go about doing that, should I just unplug my personal HDD and plug in just the SSD with the SATA?

Will this mess with my hardware?

thanks

You should just use disk manager to do that.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Formatting and quick formatting still leave data behind. Please use diskpart to run "clean all".

Just leave the SSD suspended in mid-air. Think of it as a glitch in Assassin's Creed.

Lol ok

Please run diskpart with a "clean all override" if you're selling the drive.
