Chrome unreasonably slow

hey, my  Chrome browser have gotten unreasonably slow in the past 3-4 days. even with just 1 tab it feels like it added 500ms delay for everything i do. its not as smooth as it used when im playing youtube it stutters, scrolling down pages. even on LTT.com. 

current version: 53.0.2785.143 m (64-bit)

Specs:

i7-5820k

GTX 970 from MSI

16GB of ram

Windows 10 (should be up to date)

just ask if you need more information

 

i have tried these following things:

• delete the cache and history (browser not the worlds history)
• reset chrome entirely (it comes back after a while)
• reinstall. not using any programs to delete any leftovers
• rip my hair out

 

hit me up with ideas if you have.

Maybe try a malware scanner? There might be malware slowing down your internet browsers

Does it happen if you are logged in on the browser like your google account? If it does then I'd wipe everything in the history on your google account.

What about using a different browser?  even if you don't want to switch completely, you can still use it for testing to see if it's slow also. If it is slow also then it should help with troubleshooting.

tried firefox, youtube was choppy so i switched back

Ahh I see, you didn't mention it before. At least you know it's not browser specific problem then. Do you experience lag with anything else or just internet related?

If it's just internet related, have you actually checked your speed etc?

my speed seems fine, lovely 10mpbs down and 1mpbs up. whenever i use the browser like, scrolling through an article it "stutters" or has a delay if you know what i mean. so i believe its a problem to chrome. i will try edge browser see if the same happends to it

after a malwarebytes scan it seems to be no malware slowing me down. im pretty confident there is no malware at teh system in the first place but, hey never know for sure

So you're not sure it's even the browser that's buggy... seems to me like it might be something like smooth scrolling issue, I had to turn it off on mine as I had a similar issue witht he screen flickering as I scrolled, does that sound like it?

well it just happends all teh sudden i can. and then stops. then comes back, repeat :c
