Windows 7 not accepting product key

So I bought a used Dell Optiplex 9010 with a Core i7-3770 and a 500GB HDD for $300. I tried to install a new OS and it rejected it. I called dell and they said that with this model of PC the activation key is embedded into the motherboard and that I have to use that product key to re-activate windows...? I found the original operating system from Microsoft's site but now it says that the activation key is not valid...

What can I do?

Is that an OEM OS that you're trying to install?

Apparently I entered the key wrong. Double checked and it accepted my key. I'll delete this topic
