Question about VR

So my desktop is in my room, and my room isn't large enough to move around in for a VR experience without tripping and falling over my bed. My question is this. Is there a way that you could use steam in home streaming to a laptop, in order to get the desktop level performance, and not have to be confined to a smaller space, or would this not work for some reason?

There is almost no difference in latency(in the microseconds)

 

You do need to buy good cables, of which for usb and hdmi could cost about 50 dollars.

Here's the thing though. I ran into this issue myself and some don't think about it. That really long cable is a great antenna for picking up noise from smart appliances, routers, and so on. I had to move my router to stop the jitter from noise. Also haswell CPUs on Z87 have a hard time with USB 3.0 implementation so it will probably not work if you have that. I learned this the hard way

Just keeping this here as a I had to move my router to stop the jitter from noise. Also haswell CPUs on Z87 have a hard time with USB 3.0 implementation so it will probably not work if you have that. I'm still on X79 with my 3820 overclocked, so I don't know if that's better or worse for this issue.

Either way, a cable is the best solution. Streaming VR would only increase latency, which is very bad.

My brother actually sold his desktop and bought a laptop so he could move it around, though VR wasn't the only thing he needed to move it for...

Yeah, I would do that but I bought my current laptop right before 10 series came out, and they can't upgrade my laptop, which has a 970m in it, which "can" run it, but why do that when I have a 980 ti in my desktop?
