I recently moved my office into a new building. everything is set up, i can use the network, i can plot, but my WD Mybook live duo won't show up in the network list.

I have already tried approaching it via IP and via Name but it will simply not work.

Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong? All solutions are welcome!

Did it have a hard-coded IP address from the old network in its config, or was it using DHCP?

Sounds like it might have been hard coded to an address that isn't part of your new network.

If thats the case you probably need to work out (Manual!!) how to reset the network configuration to factory default so you can get in (without resetting any data).

What's your new network config?

eg 192.168.2.1

I'm guessing that your new modem/router has a different address, so you'll have to switch it to the old config.

Go into your router settings, router.PNG

Change the IP address to the same as your old one, then after it's applied and maybe restarted, the NAS should show up again.

Used the IP 192.168.1.10 and configured it in the router settings, Had to type in the MAC Address and name and after that it still didn't show up.

Old router address? new router address? NAS address? - sorry but I don't know which IP address you're telling me about there.

The address you want to change is the router's address as I said above. So whatever your NAS address is it needs to be in the same range.

So like this:-

NAS address is for instance 192.168.1.10

The router's address should be something like 192.168.1.1

Then in the part where it says "use router as DHCP server" you'll want to change the start address so that your NAS address can't be given out to a different device... so something like:-

Start address 192.168.1.20  - this gives you 19 static addresses to use on other devices you may have.

End address 192.168.1.249

The reason for this is that DHCP server gives out address to devices that are also wanting to use DHCP to connect to the router without having a static IP address themselves. Some devices such as your NAS is better for them to have a static IP address so that it doesn't change, because your devices that for instance have media served to them, or want to save files etc to the NAS need to know where it is to do so.
