so a couple of weeks ago I purchased a gaming notebook from dell (Inspiron 15 7000 gaming with 4k screen and 256gb SSD through m.2 port) and I immediately realized that the wireless solution was absolutely horrible, my wifi is capable of 150mbps down and 15mbps up. now my card is achieving only 15 to 20 down and 15 up. I want to know if there is an adapter that would allow me to use the WLAN cards slot for a killer AC wireless card that uses m.2. I have looked and looked but so far nothing. I would just like someone to point me in the right direction or something like that because I'm at the point of ripping my hair out because I have no clue what to do

PC specs

One 256gb m.2 SSD

One wd blue 1tb hard drive

Intel i7 6700hq

GeForce GTX 960m 4gb

An intel one by one wifi card with integrated Bluetooth

The wifi solution runs off of a WLAN port.

Again i want to know if there is some kind of adapter that would allow me to use a killer AC m.2 wifi and Bluetooth card in my WLAN cards port.

How are you achieving the bandwidth that you're testing for?

Ethernet but I want to use the killer AC because I would rather not have to run ethernet through the cold air return in my house to get ethernet in my room.

No, are you transferring files over the network exclusively or your Internet connection?

This is what you stated. I'm trying to understand how you're achieving those speeds. Are you running a speedtest to get that speed? If that is the speed of the Internet connection, getting a faster or better adapter will not improve those speeds.

A new card won't help if your internet speed is the let down.

speed test over ethernet

You will get no improvement by getting a better network adapter, except for maybe latency, but raw bandwidth will not be affected in regards to your Internet connection.

No my internet speed is fine i get 150 down and 15 up over ethernet but only when I'm using the built-in card from my laptop is when i get 15-25 down and 15 up

Wifi is slower than Ethernet and always will be. Nothing you can do about it.

Dont spread bullshit please. This guy could easily buy a external USB 3.0 adapter or replace his internal wifi card. (probably mini pcie) to a faster one.

Current Wifi cards are actually faster than 1Gbit. They needed to standardise 2.5 and 5gbE just for this problem.

Give me proof of a wifi signal that gives a download speed faster than 50MB/sec

Here is your proof:

Copied a file over a 5Ghz Router to my PC. I can get to about 103MB/sec max. The router is DIR 868L. The router is from 2013 so 3 years old already. Other side has TPLink Archer T9E.

Ethernet cable is probably your best option. Also some isps will give you bits per second over bytes per second that might be causing some confusion.

He already said that his INTERNET is fine. The speed he is getting has nothing to do with his ISP. This network card is just crap. Most should do 100Mbit very easily. He can verify with a speedtest on his phone.

My PS4 has an admittedly bad wifi card and I get 100+mbs with Ethernet cable and around 20mbs on wifi

That isn't in Sweden/Germany*

Most other places in the world have plans under 100~ MBPS. That's probably why I've never seen >50MB/sec.

What the heck are you talking about this has NOTHING to do with internet. this is about NETWORK performance. This has nothing to do with your country.

What if your country's ISPs don't offer plans above 100MBPS? Take, for example, england? 76MBPS is the highest I've seen advertised. That does happen quite a lot.

Back to topic, not everyone has 5GHz networks.

NETWORK SPEED INTERNET please stop spreading nonesense.

One is LOCAL FILE TRANSFER the other is INTERNET FILE TRANSFER.

(The first one has nothing to do with country and your ISP)
