I had to reinstall steam today because of some kind of crash and i naturally moved my steamapps folder somewhere else on the drive.

But when i want to put it back, during the copying process the drive somehow stops being connected and the process fails.

On restart the system recognizes the drive again, but when i want to do the same thing again it fails again.

Should i buy a new drive or could the sata port be the problem.

My HDD is about 2 years old.

System specs:

Windows 10 pro

a10 6700

gtx 750ti

8gb 1600mz ram

seagate 2tb drive

samsung 850 evo 256gb

all put on an asus a58m-a/usb 3

If i have to replace my HDD could you give me some good recomendations for a 4tb drive?

Thanks in advance

Your hdd is probably bad. Get a new One.

Most Hdds are about the same, If you were to get a new one Id probably get a segate 4tb or a wd 4tb blue https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-SATA-3-5-Inch-Desktop-ST4000DM000/dp/B00B99JU4S

Thanks!

Here is a screenshot from Hard Disk Sentinel with the S.M.A.R.T stats of my drive.

If i buy a new drive, how do i copy everything from it safely?

Smart shows the drive being good, but smart can be good and the drive can bad bad. Since its failing, id get a new one.
