Sound Card necessary

I'm planning a new gaming / programming build and wanted to know if a sound card is needed. I plan on getting the asus z170-a and I know a discrete sound card would perform better, but Is it something I can put of as a later upgrade, or the the sound of the motherboard so bad that I should add a sound card to the budget?

Unless you have very specific special audio needs, onboard these days is good enough for overall quality. If you have something like the realtec 1150 chip your good to go.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.
