PSU - Corsair vs EVGA

The EVGA 500B easily.

I'm looking for a decent 500W - 550W PSU for a new build for my friend and I stumbled upon these 2 PSUs on my local online store which are quite cheap. Which one is more reliable and which one should I get?

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

I have a corsair myself, and it makes a god awful coil whine. I understand that is just luck of the draw with a PSU, but regaradless, EVGA will likely be my next purchase.

B is the better of the 2, but both aren't that great.

Can you find the 450w / 550w of this model? http://www.lazada.com.my/corsair-cx-series-semi-modular-cx650m-atx-power-supply-12886271.html

The CX650M is superior than both of them in respect to build quality, functionality, electrical performance, warranty, power output. Yes, it's 60 MYR / ~$14USD more, but it is well worth it. Of course, if you could find the lower wattage model for cheaper (not to be confused with the older CX430/500/600 / M models), I would go for that.

If you can't spend more than that at all, then I'll go with the EVGA 500B

The way I look at PSU is for stability of power/good components, future PC use and warranty. I would much rather have a decent PSU that will see me throught he next few PC builds, with good components and warranty.

For example EVGA g2/p2 PSU's have a very good reputation, good components and warranty of 10 years. That's worth paying an extra $40 compared to a bad/middling PSU in anyone's book isn't it?  I can understand having budget contraints, but this component of your PC is what is literally keeping your PC going, if it fails at best you need to buy a new PSU and at worst it could take some PC components with it. I'd rather spend $40 less on a case or whatever than to have a poor PSU.

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.
