Is an i5 2500k compatible with z77?

I have an i5 2500k, and think I'll switch to an ITX or MATX motherboard, but if I can't find a z67 board, would it be compatible with a z77 board?

I'm not concerned about the z77 features, the only thing is PCIe 3.0 and that barely does anything yet... Thanks for the swift reply guys!

My friend has his 2500k in an Asus P8Z77V-Pro motherboard and he couldn't be happier. He's had no issues. Yeah you lose out on the PCIe 3 but in all honesty, using one GPU isn't going to make any difference.

100% compatible you wont be able to use the updated PCI-E but it will not affect you at all if you are using a graphics card in that slot

Yes it is compatible. If you're ever in doubt, just check the manufacturers website and refer to their supported CPU's page.
