Apparently my Zotac GTX 980 AMP! has risen in value $80 somehow since I've purchased it in February and is around the $560 mark now. Should I sell it for two GTX 1060s or just buy another GTX 980? The only advantage I see for the 980 is that is has a much higher CUDA CORE count which helps with processing I believe. The base and boost for the GTX 1060s are higher and I want two GPUs in SLI to help with some of the games that I run in extreme or ultra settings.

the 1060 doesnt support SLI

You can see for yourself that the value has risen. Why I don't know but I bought the GTX 980 for less than $500 in February. I get that you can't SLI 1060 so what should I do instead?

Do you think that you can sell a used card at store price?

That's my point, but should I?

Is that even a smart choice rather than just continuing to buy 980s til I get three or four of them?

3 and 4 way sli are terrible choices for gaming,  not choices at all really. Even 2 way can scale poorly or not at all. If you need more performance sell the 980 and pick up a 1070 or 1080

Ive never heard this b4. Why would they come out with this technology and people buy into it if its terrible? Doesnt make sense. Never heard of anyone complaining about SLI.

2 way SLI is 'usually' ok - if the game supports it and has a profile for it. Going 3 way or 4 way is just a waste of money because the performance gains don't scale at all, so you'd expect adding another GPU will increase performance by a significant margin each time right? Wrong.

Unless you are playing Rise of the Tomb Raider constantly, and that's the only game you play, do not buy SLI. just buy a better card. Unless the card you are talking about is the GTX 1080/Titan XP

If you've never heard anyone complaining about SLI, you've never heard anyone talk about SLI.

As for buying a second GTX 980, see my above statement about Rise of the Tomb Raider. My advice, and probably Linus and Luke's also, would be to seel it and buy a 1070. If it was a 980 Ti, then buying a second one of those would be an option because the 980 Ti is still a great card.

As for the value of the GTX 980. The value has not risen. Infact, you can buy a brand new GTX 1080 for the price of that brand new GTX 980 you were talking about earlier. The price on a website is determined by what said website's stock/demand is. a 980 is not works $580. or $500. you probably wouldnt even get $400 if you sold yours. What I'm getting at is put SLI out of your mind. Unless you're a well seasoned Computer builder/gamer and you know the exact benefits and draw backs it will bring, do not get another card. I speak from experience lol
