I really need a mic. I can't take Skype calls or actually play video games.

I've decided on Antlion's Modmic 4.0 (uni-directional). Thing is...I live in Canada, and NCIX is the only retailer that even carries the mic. And the muted unidirectional Modmic is out of stock. But the muteless one is in stock. So is it worth it? I really want to get a mic this weekend so that I can play video games with my friends.

It's a $10 premium over the $55 muteless mic here in Canada, by the way.

I never use inline mute. Just do it straight through the programs im using.

In games you have push to talk, and in skype you can set a hotkey to mute your mic. I'd save the cash and grab the muteless one

Thanks for the reply! Yeah...good point. It might even be more convenient, since you won't have to take your hand off the keyboard to mute the mic.

By the way, should I look into the Blue Snowball? It's only $5 more than the muted Modmic, and it's in stock at Staples.

I prefer to use desktop mics because I dont really like having one right under my nose where everyone on the other end can hear every breath I take.

for blue snowball.. The sound quality through it is good, but its such an awkward shape imo. If you need a mic I think itll do for a good while

So Snowball or Modmic? I feel like the Snowball will pick up a ton of background noise.

Personal preference really.. Snowball will probably pick up more background noise, but like I said with the headphone mics is that they pick up on breathing sometimes. Either way you'll probably be happy

I've used an MXL Tempo for the past like 4 years, not a super great one, but does what I need it to do.

i generally just use the software's mute or straight up unplug the mic :P

Ah they days where micmute worked on my PC...now it's unable to unmute without me going into control panel and manually turning up the mic again :/ (I wonder if it has anything to do with me still not reinstalling windows after new CPU, motherboard and RAM :P)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...
