Different RAM modules

Go to solution Solved by Aytex,

Check voltage, mixing the types of voltage will make it a even higher probability of them not working together.

speed/Cas doesn't matter much, speed can down clock itself to match the slower one.

Though theres always a probability that the ram stick will NOT work with each other, so keep it in mind.

Hi! ^^

Currently I own 2 modules of 4GB Crucial DDR4 Crucial Ballistix Tactical 2666MHz, CL16

I want to upgrade but I can't find any 8GB sticks with 2666, cl16 in local stores or it is way too overpriced(like 47-50 euro for 8 GB, whaaaa?..), only 3000, cl15 ._.

The question is, if I'll buy, for example Corsair or Kingston RAM 8 GB stick with 2666, cl16, and add it to my Crucial RAM, will it be OK?

BTW, motherboard is Asus Maximus VIII Ranger, i5 6500

Voltage? All standard modules are 1.2V, so it should not be an issue?

There are many types

some use 1.35v

I guess those types of voltages are more used in "gaming ram"

I'm just saying to keep it in mind when buying ram, always check the specs :P
