Laptop Choices (ASUS OR SAGER)

Go to solution Solved by Pendragon,

GL502VM

-fine

-temps are high, redeemable with repaste

-warranty worst in class

-corporate worst in class

-customer support? what customer support

-GL502 and P650RP6 use the same 1080p LG GSync monitor

-no battery life

tl;dr the laptop is fine. cooling is fine with repaste. would not recommend due to pain in the ass warranty and customer service. it's a fucking nightmare to RMA.

Sager NP8152 (Clevo P650RP6)

-it's not a Sager, it's a Clevo!

-I think this is the best-in-class 15in 1060 laptop

-GL502 and P650RP6 use the same 1080p LG GSync monitor

-5.5 hours of battery life in Optimus (MSHybrid)

-Aluminum sheet top and bottom

-Much better cooling

-Overclocking a real option here

-Better warranty

-Better support

-WOULD NOT BUY FROM SAGER. Buy from LPC. Much better service and Prema bios

tl;dr just a better option

ASUS ROG STRIX GL502VM

-how is the screen? Is the contrast good? Colors?

-how flimsy and durable prone is this laptop?

OR

SAGER NP8152

-is the chasis actually hard metal? It looks like it.

-how is the display? Is the battery life worse or better than the asus?

Does battery optimus work with a gsync screen?  And thanks for the advice.

Nope. Most laptops have a bios option to turn off gsync to use optimus.

Uhh no? That's a straight lie here. Only laptops currently in the market that can do that are the P6x0Rxx series from Clevo. Most laptops on Pascal run GSync dGPU only.

No it doesn't. All laptops cept the P6x0Rxx series from Clevo with MUX switches run 1 or the other. Only the Clevo's have the option to switch between the two.

Probably around 2.5 hours with gsync on. I'll let you two battle it out whether or not you can turn on gsync or not.

There is no battle. He's just wrong in that regard.

GL502 is GSync ONLY dGPU mode ONLY. So extremely poor battery life. Expect 2.5 hours out of this cause it's GSync ONLY. GSync is ALWAYS on.

P650RP6 is GSync and MSHybrid (Optimus Equivalent) toggle in the bios. These are the ONLY laptops in the entire market that can do this because of additional hardware called a MUX switch. So with the Clevo you can turn GSync and dGPU only mode on and enjoy not having to worry about switching the dGPU on certain tasks. And when you switch to MSHybrid for light tasks and on the go battery life, 5.5 hours on light tasks.

Yes. It's the exact same laptop you linked in the beginning. I linked you a better location to purchase it. LPC-Digital. You get additional customer service care and Prema bios. Reference for the future, please @name or quote in the future. Lets the other person know that you're referring to them so they can respond.

I'm buying it from LPC-Digital don't worry it was just the link I had saved in my clipboard. Thank you again.

It also seems to be cheaper on LPC haha. Thanks for the link because I was juggling through a bunch of third party websites and I was trying to find the best. @Pendragon
