Gaming laptop or PC?

Go to solution Solved by Misanthrope,

Gaming laptop with a 1070 could work but I'd prefer full desktop power in a fairly protable form factor:

There are even smaller case (Like the DAN case) or ones with better compatibility for other hardware options (The NCASE M1 for example can sport 120 or even 240 radiators) but for what you need, you can easily grab this and put it inside a backpack of briefcase since it's thin and not too large. Not unlike carrying around a slighly large console like the XBONE (first model)

The only thing is that this one with a 6700k might be running a bit hot even with the Noctua cooler so if you don't need to overclock (for gaming you shouldn't really need to) then the 6700 non k is slightly cheaper but sporting a lower TDP as well.

Now I do know that in terms of price to performance, but here's the problem: I travel from my dorm back to home every weekend. So what other choices do I have? I'm thinking about maybe buying 2 systems, but that seems like a waste. Let's say my budget is around 1700 usd. What do you guys think I should do?

A good gaming laptop might be best, rather than carrying a case, keyboard, mouse and monitor back and forth - unless you have a keyboard, mouse and monitor in each location.

How about:

or -slightly cheaper

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.
