Cons of Painting a case fan

KiwiLemon

So I was wondering if spray painting a case fan (i.e. a Noctua P12) would cause dangers to the inside of my system, such as will it flake or spread particles that could harm hardware? The average temperature of my Gigabyte G1 1070 is around 50 - 55 degrees celsius (under load) so would that kind of heat ruin the paint?

if you something like oven paint or a high temp paint then no, im pretty sure most paint will be good above 50c anyways. if you paint the actual fan blades then it can throw off the balance of the fan and cause a little more wear on the bearing. you can check the msds of the paint you want to use to get exact information. the air in your case is probably much lower than 50c too, those temps are right on the gpu.

If you know how to paint keeping paint "balanced" on the blades, then all you need to know is how to disassemble a fan

This is a signature.

painting a fan will almost certainly throw off the balance if you are painting the blades, if not then you are fine
