Does this build supply enough power for US$1200?

Some people sent me builds with a 1070, like this one http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Vdhh7h

See, that's a good build although that's a weird garbage SSD. That one also assumes you're paying $30 for Windows instead of buying a full license (buying a key and ripping the installation files).

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/gyhh7h

i came up with this, keeps the case you wanted and stuff but adds a 1070 and you can throw in an optical drive into that build too

I am thinking of an upgrade to my pretty crappy laptop so I can play games at 3440x1440 at ~60fps. This part list I am conceiving is in an ITX form factor. I would also like to know if an upgrade to an nvidia card is worth it on a freesync monitor.

The build: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZPKv4C

I am also getting the unlocked version of the i5 6600 for possible overclock ability, and resale value in the future. A z170 board is also used for the fact that there aren't any good non z170 ITX boards I heard of that also have WiFi connectivity.

So, is this build decent for US $1200?'

*Even though pcpartpicker says the MSI board is not compatible with 2280 m.2, reviews state that electrical tape can be used to secure larger sizes.

There is no 6600. Only 6500 and 6600k. And... I wouldn't go for water cooling at this price point. Take a look at the Cryorig H5, H7, C1, Noctua DH15, and some other better cooling solutions

1. Don't get that SSD. It's M.2 size, but it runs at regular SATA SSD speeds. Just spend the $90 on getting like a 500gb 2.5 inch drive, itll be the same speeds but more storage, and that case is big enough where you don't need M.2

2. Get a Cryorig H7 instead of the be quiet cooler if it fits in your 250D. Much better cooler, in terms of performance, aesthetics, mounting, and acoustics.

MSI GE72 Apache Pro-242 - (5700HQ : 970M : 16gb RAM : 17.3" : Win10 : 1TB HDD : Razer Anansi : Some mouse) - hooked up to a 34UM58-P (WFHD) in dual screen

that is an i5 6600

also the cooler isn't an aio watercooler, it is an air cooler

and to be more specific, should I look for a more powerful gpu in my build, for $1200

The i5 6600 exists: http://ark.intel.com/products/88188/Intel-Core-i5-6600-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

And he selected an air cooler so I'm not sure why you're saying to not go for water cooling?

I'll look into a 500gb ssd, but I'm not sure any are available for less than $130

Also the Cryorig H7 is too big for the case, according to reviews stating 140mm maximum height and product page saying 95mm height maximum.

I'm sorry. I don't know what's going through my head right now. I'm typing an essay while doing this at the same time.

Is the PSU any good? 50 dollars make me a bit suspicious on its quality, but its not like I know anything about PSUs, you tell me.

Neat build.

Neat build.

You can use a PCIe or USB dongle for wifi. Sometimes it's actually faster that way.

I will just use a different mobo instead. But running the 1070 on a freesync monitor, is tearing a big problem?

It's tier 3 psu, so it won't burn your pc at least.

Here is what I would suggest then, made quite a few changes for the better and stayed in budget, only went up $5. The 650w G2 is a great PSU, but SUPER overkill. Your PC will only sip barely 300 watts max + a bit for overclocking, so this CXM will be perfect, it's smaller, still quiet, and has good efficiency and a good quality OEM. Gives you an extra $45 to work with as well. Check this build out. Since you can't fit good tower CPU coolers, looks like your best bet at performance is an AIO.

It'll just work as a normal monitor. G-sync is expensive and is way outside of your budget. And my own. :D

Liquid cooling, hm... I will have to think about it. Is it a quiet alternative? I would rather have a quiet pc than one that overclocks very well.

If you want quiet, then the be quiet cooler you had or a Cryorig H7 would be fine. Liquid coolers don't add much noise, especially if you set a fan curve on the fan on the radiator, but technically liquid can never be as quiet as air. You said earlier you could have overclockability, and you won't have much at all on the be quiet but the liquid would give you a decent amount of headroom for OC'ing.

30 dbs make me a bit worried... but I will think about it. A stock clocked 6600k shouldn't bottleneck a 1070... right?

Okay, but instead of higher costs going liquid, should I cut down some other costs and go with a 1070? There are builds for $1200 that have a 1070.
