hey i was just wondering if anyone could help me. im getting really choppy and freezing gameplay when playing online on arma3. my pc should be able to handle the game so i dont know whats going on, it seems to be when its demanding scene or its loading things in. sometimes its so bad the game will just crash and theres a black screen, esc works simetimes or logging out.

 

i7 6700k

msi gtx1070

16GB 2400 ddr4 hyper x fury

installed on 250gb ssd

That is normal. I recommend you to use mix of medium and high settings and that will make it a lot better.

Also depends on what server you play. Usually Life, Exile servers or servers full of scripts generally perform really poorly.

King of the hill is demanding as well but that one is usually very playable even with 100 players at around 30FPS.

Also turn AA down a bit and don't use PIP (mirror in vehicles that is one of the biggest performance hog). Also view distance is a big deal.

Crashing and black screen is not normal though.

What game are you playing and how much people are on the server?

 

if its Altis life with 100 people thats the reason.

Would suggest Textures and terrain on ultra/high,clouds off,pip low/off, with low / off AO, 2x AA with no postproccessAA. and the Arma 2 Trees+grass off. Caustics off, post process filter stuff off, shadow distance minimum (50?), and keep adjusting view distance on what you are doing (foot/car/air).

 

also putting the game on SSD will help a bit. especially when moving fast
