850w for 1080 SLI?

HungryHamster

I have two 1080s in SLI and have no problems. Might not have room to heavily overclock but I'm not sure.

Edit: I have a 850w psu as well.

Hey everyone,

I will be running 2 EVGA 1080 FTW gfx cards in SLI. Will a Corsair RM850i PSU be enough to power these? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You can go all out OC on that setup no problem.

I'd go 1000 or more. I would never run that close to max myself. Using a 1000 now for my setup. Leaves room for degradation and efficiency.

A 850W power supply should be more than enough for SLI 1080s... I had a HX750i with 2x980(altho I didn't overlock) and didn't had any troubles with it and the power consuptions of both cards are similar. In fact, a single 1080 runs smooth on a good 550W power supply, adding another 1080 won't consume 300W more, or even close.

Meh, for 20 or 30 bucks more just go for a 1000W power supply and you'll be fine for certain.
