Iem setup

PKValkyrie

Hi forum,

I'm looking at spending a large sum for the most clinical listening experience possible and have come to the conclusion... I'm not a millionaire who can afford speakers or headphones that would meet my expectations.

So here is what I've decided: Etymotic Research ER4SR + objective2 Odac amp combo and custom molded ear canal plugs from an audiologist.

I can't see where I can improve this. Any ideas before I take the plunge?

Case: Manta Mini ITX Black
CPU: I5-6600K
CPU: Cooler: Corsair H105
Ram: 16Gb (2x8Gb) 2133Mhz HyperX
GPU: 1070 Sea Hawk X
Storage: 120Gb, 480Gb Intel SSD
PSU: 650W EVGA Bronze

Peripheral: 144Hz VG248QE TN, 60Hz MX239H IPS, Bose Companion 5 2.1 TrueSpace, M65 Corsair 8200DPI, Razer Vespula Foam Wrist mouse pad, K70 Corsair Mechanical Red backlit, ATH-ADG1 AudioTechnica Open back, Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro Closed back, DXracer Drift series

Don't really need o2+odac for iem, not to mention it isnt very portable. I have a pair of 64 A12 that I use straight from my oneplus 3 phone and it works well enough, just spend all on the iem imo.

Agreed, spend all you can on just the IEM and forget about the O2+ ODAC. I have three higher  end IEM's (Fitear Parterre, Sennheiser IE800 and CampFire Audio Jupiter) and I find that they sound pretty good plugged straight into my Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. Yes, I do hear a little more detail and clarity on my HFM HM901s, but man, I'd paid a good deal of cash for it....imo, a pair of good IEM + phone makes for a better listening experience vis-a-vis a mediocre IEM + DAC combo + phone. Recently bought a couple of pairs of cheap Chinese made IEM's and I'm now wondering why I'd spent so much on my branded portable gear.o.O

Dont waste your time buying headphones then getting custom models for them. Just get custom model IEMs.
