Your raid failed, you'll need to create a new one. Also, all your data has gone. Sorry about that. :/

but y it failed just shut it down and started it up

It happens randomly. It happened to me twice. Luckily I've got a back server which backups everything every 2 days.

Step one when encountering a hard drive failure, and EVEN more important with a RAID failure, is to not do ANYTHING to the disks. Don't try and initialize the disk again as that is only hurting your ability to recover the data.

Download a data recovery tool that can handle RAID arrays, Recover My Files for example which I have used a couple of times to get data of failed RAID arrays. You have to plug the drives in to the computer so they show up separately, already happening for you, and not behind a half working array. Then in Recover My Files to go through the disk recovery selecting that it was a RAID array, tell it the type and stripe size and it will scan the disks and try and rebuild any data it can.

As long as you can see the disk in disk manager that is all you need, recovery tools scan the raw disk so it doesn't matter what Windows actually sees on them or tries to tell you whats on them.

The downside to Recover My Files is it's not free but it does work, maybe you do use a trial of it to make sure it actually finds data.
