Build upgrade plan. Thoughts?

My plan is more or less to sell all of my internal components (4690k, Ga-Z97-HD3, GTX 970, 16GB DDR3, drives, etc) and buy this:

Note that many of those are marked as purchased. monitor plan is to mount that 25" widescreen above the 27" i currently have. 

 

Budget is not tight, but I do not want to spend a ton of money. 

 

Note that I have HDDs laying around.

Why not just get a 4790K and a GTX 1070?

if youre going with m.2 SSD you should consider buying one that operates on PCIe instead of SATA
because the one you chose is the same performance as the 2.5inch mx300 but at a higher cost for just the form factor

this is a little complicated:

 

I can sell my i5 for $175 max. GTX 970 for roughly the same price. I end up with $350-$400, and then turn around and spend $700. 

 

what I am going to do is sell my components as a full PC on craigslist. I have a 212 EVO and another PSU laying around, so I'll buy a case to sell it in. I figure I can get $700 for it that way, with a 240GB SSD and 750GB HDD. 

 

both methods end up the same money wise, but this way i get DDR4 and a new mobo and M.2

I would just hold out, the 4690K is not showing its age just yet. As for the GPU it is up to you, but the 970 is hardly 'bad'.

2 things:

 

1. the cost is almost identicle

2. no hastle of cables (I'm serious)

3. PCIe M.2 drives are way more expensive. 

I'll supliment this with a 480GB SP550 later

I'm not phasing out parts because they are old or slow, I'm phasing out parts because I'm looking to upgrade. 

 

I was considering the 5820k, but when the motherboard is considered it is an extra $100 over this setup

Geil SuperLuce is great RAM, and it has white LEDs on the top.

Honestly from your current specs I don't think you'll need to upgrade anytime soon but if you are really itching for an upgrade I suggest getting the case, Hue+, Monitor, and cooler. 
 

I already own that case, PSU, cooler and Hue Plus, as well as the QNix monitor. (Notice, they are marked as purchased)
