Linux mint installation HELP!

Hello,

I'm trying to burn Linux mint to a 700mb DVD and the file is 1.7gb. Is there any way that I can make the file smaller so it can fit on the DVD? And I don't have a flash drive that I can put it on. Thanks

Why do you need a cd drive?

You can install it from the network or a usb drive.

You can use UNetBootin or LinuxLive USB Creator with a inexpensive 4GB USB drive to create a bootable drive, but you won't be able to shrink the installation files to fit on a CD. With UNetBootin, you can also install Mint from within Windows (You'll still have to reboot to switch between them), and you'll be able to uninstall it like a normal program if you decide Mint isn't your Linux flavor or it doesn't run well on your hardware.

Probably a live CD, plus physical media is always a good backup for installation media.
